About Leanne
Leanne is a sociocultural theorist of slow violence, affect, and education. She is interested in nuanced approaches towards understanding and responding to the complexities of education as a social and cultural institution.
After a career in secondary teaching at a boys’ school, Leanne completed her award-winning master’s and PhD theses in education at University of Melbourne. She is also a graduate of Monash University, taking degrees in History, Law, and Education.
From February 2026 Leanne is taking up an ongoing, full-time position at Monash University as Lecturer in the School of Education, Culture and Society, Faculty of Education.
From January 2020 to February 2026 Leanne has been a Lecturer in Education at La Trobe University. She has taught gender and education in the Master of Education degree, honours level courses in ethical professional practice; humanities and social sciences education, and permeable classrooms within initial teacher education programs.
Leanne is an introvert who loves cats, coffee, snowboarding, pilates, yin yoga, science fiction, synthwave and video games.
