About Leanne

Leanne is a sociocultural theorist of slow violence, affect, and education. She is interested in nuanced approaches towards understanding and responding to the complexities of education as a social and cultural institution. She is a Lecturer at Monash University in the School of Education, Culture and Society.

Inspired by her experiences teaching in a boys’ school, Leanne completed her award-winning master’s and PhD theses in education at University of Melbourne. She is also a graduate of Monash University, taking degrees in History, Law, and Education. During her career in schools Leanne was Head of Humanities and taught VCE Global and Australian Politics, VCE Legal Studies, VCE History Revolutions, and 7-10 Humanities. She also worked for the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority for more than a decade in examinations development and assessment for VCE Legal Studies, including five years as examination panel chair and two study design reviews.

Leanne is an introvert who loves cats, coffee, snowboarding, pilates, yin yoga, science fiction, synthwave and video games.
